Hi all

I have been told the addisons disease is not primary addisons, it is secondary addisons. This is good news in effect because it means although the endocrinologist thinks the dodgey immune system has chewed some of the adrenal glands they have been knackered mainly by the steroids. Excess steroid.

All the precautions and safety things to do with primary addisons still apply but there is hope that the adrenal glands can recover. He warned that they do not always recover and mine might be too damaged but in the meantime I can start to reduce my 100mg of fludrocortisone to 50mg then off within 4 wks. I can start tackling the hydrocortisone morning dose 20mg to 15mg over time. I still need to keep the afternoon dose of 10mg the same. Bearing in mind that is 130mg of steroid a day, he says I have done well to maintain my weight. (which made me feel a bit better about the lardy gut bucket appearance)

I make zero testosterone and that is all to do with the adrenal glands being shrivvelled to about 10th of their proper size.

I am making an appt to see the GP about this stupid leg and ridgidity of the leg muscles as endocrinology say it is nothing to do with them. I want a proper scan done at least.

Anyway- over all I am pleased to say that this looks like good news.

I get my blood results today- and 2nd loaded dose of the cimzia, so appreciate your kind thoughts and prayers.

Love to everyone

Jenni xx
